Team Zone Setup Guide
This guide will walk you through the process of setting up and customizing training zones for your team. Properly configured zones are crucial for accurate workout prescription and performance analysis.
Accessing the Zone Editor
- Navigate to the "Team Settings" section of the application.
- Select the "Team Zones New" tab to access the revised zone editor.
Understanding the Zone Editor Interface
The zone editor is organized by sport type and then by metric. You will see tabs for "Running", "Cycling", "Swimming", and "Other Sports". Within each sport tab, you can switch between different metrics like "Pace", "Heart Rate", and "Power" (depending on the sport's relevance).
Predefined Zone Systems
To help you get started quickly, the editor provides a selection of predefined zone systems. These are standard configurations that you can load as a starting point.
- Select a System: Use the "Predefined Zone Systems" dropdown to choose a system. Selecting one will populate the table with its default zones.
- "Custom (Current)": This option allows you to keep your currently defined zones, even if they deviate from a predefined system.
Customizing Zones
You have full control to customize each zone's name, code, and percentage ranges.
- Zone Name: A descriptive name for the zone (e.g., "Recovery", "Tempo").
- Zone Code: A short code for the zone (e.g., "Z1", "Z2").
- Min % of Threshold: The lower limit percentage for the zone, relative to the athlete's threshold value (e.g., Threshold Pace, FTP, Threshold HR).
- Max % of Threshold: The upper limit percentage for the zone, relative to the athlete's threshold value.
Managing Zones
- Add Zone: Click the "Add Zone" button to add a new row to the table. A new zone will be automatically populated with a default name, code, and percentage range based on the last existing zone.
- Delete Zone: Click the trash can icon next to a zone to remove it. You must have at least one zone.
- Revert: If you've made changes and wish to discard them, click "Revert" to restore the zones to their last saved state.
- Save: After making your desired changes, click the "Save" button. This will persist your custom zone configuration for the selected sport and metric. A success message will appear briefly upon successful save.
Example Zone Calculations
Below the editor, you will see example grids that demonstrate how the defined zones translate to actual pace, heart rate, or power values for sample athletes. This helps visualize the impact of your percentage settings.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage and customize your team's training zones to align with your coaching philosophy.
