Delete an account with a 30-day safety net — and add photos to your exercises

For All Coaches

When a family or a school asks for an athlete’s data to be deleted, there’s now a clear, built-in way to do it. Athletes and coaches can delete their own Smagpie account, a head coach can delete an athlete’s account from the roster, and every deletion comes with 30 days to change your mind. This release also brings photos to the exercise editor, plus a handful of fixes.

NEW: Delete an account — with 30 days to change your mind

Athletes and coaches will find the option on their Account page. If you’re a team’s head coach, you can also delete an athlete’s account straight from your roster.

Because a deletion becomes permanent once the 30 days are up, confirming takes two deliberate steps: re-enter your current password and type the account’s full name. When a head coach deletes an athlete’s account, that’s the coach’s own password and the athlete’s full name.

Here’s what happens next:

  • Right away: the account is disabled, and connected devices like Garmin are disconnected. Athletes are emailed a copy of their data on day one.
  • For the next 30 days: the deletion can still be cancelled — with the link in the email if you requested it yourself, by the team’s head coach from the roster, or with help from Smagpie support.
  • After 30 days: the account is permanently deleted, and a signed destruction certificate is produced to record it.

Some records have to be kept — billing history, for example. Those stay on file, but they’re no longer attached to the deleted account.

For families and schools, that’s the point: a deletion request now has a clear path from start to finish, a window to catch a mistake, and a signed record at the end.

NEW: Photos in the exercise editor

When you create or edit an exercise, you can now add, replace, or remove a photo, right next to the demo video link in Media URL. Upload a JPG or PNG and Smagpie resizes it for you.

On a larger screen, the photo and the video link sit together in a Demo media column beside the form. On a phone, they move to the bottom of the form.

Nothing is saved until you press Save. A newly picked photo carries a Not saved yet tag, so it’s always clear what hasn’t been saved.

One thing hasn’t changed: editing a public library exercise still copies it to your team first, and the photo goes on your team’s copy.

Fixes & polish

  • Purchase receipt downloads work again.
  • Athlete Dashboard (coach view): rows in the workout list lay out properly again, and a week that’s only partly inside the selected range is now labeled Partial instead of looking like missing data.
  • Athlete schedule calendar: picking a month from the calendar icon now jumps straight to that month.
  • Intervals.icu sync: activities are no longer skipped after a duplicate delivery.

Head coaches fielding a data-deletion request from a family or school: you can start it from your roster, and cancel it there too if plans change within the 30 days.

How this helps your coaching

  • For team coaches:

When a family or school asks for an athlete's data to be deleted, the head coach can start the deletion from the roster and cancel it there during the 30-day window. A photo added to a public library exercise goes on your team's own copy.

  • For clubs:

Athletes and coaches can delete their own account from their Account page. The account is disabled right away, and the deletion can still be cancelled for 30 days before it becomes permanent. Coaches can also add a photo to an exercise, next to its demo video link.

  • For individual coaches:

If an athlete wants their account gone, they can delete it from their Account page. Connected devices like Garmin are disconnected right away, and they're emailed a copy of their data on day one. On your side, exercises can now carry a photo — JPG or PNG, resized for you.
